Scholarships available for Philly Area Food System Professionals and Students – DEADLINE October 15, 9:00AM EDT
The American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Food and Environment Working Group is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for Philadelphia area Food System professionals and students to attend the APHA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, November 7th-11th, 2009. These scholarships are made possible through a donation from a food systems grant program, administered by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission with funding from the William Penn Foundation.
The APHA conference is a large event, offering wonderful opportunities for learning and networking across disciplines. It is described by APHA as the “oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world, attracting more than 13,000 national and international physicians, administrators, nurses, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related health specialists. APHA’s meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health.” Attending the conference’s scientific sessions and networking events will enable local professionals to connect their work and interests in the food system to public health efforts going on outside Philadelphia, as well as educate health professionals from around the U.S. and beyond about the innovative work in Philadelphia.
